My Favorite Baltimore Food Trucks

For me, food trucks are the sign of summer. The sun is shining, the temperatures are near perfect, and you just want to be outside. Food trucks give you the perfect excuse to leave the office and soak up the warm summer day.

My food truck obsession started the summer of 2017. The office park I work in decided to start having food trucks twice a week. Plenty of food trucks have come and gone. But only a few have truly captured my heart. So, to celebrate the first day of summer, I'm giving you my top ten Baltimore food trucks.

If you're ever in the Baltimore area, make sure you give these food trucks a try!

10. Bistro Lunch Box

Bistro Lunch Box

Bistro Lunch Box is a gourmet food truck that offers a variety of food. Their menu includes sandwiches, subs, wraps, a couple of salads, and seven different ways to enjoy your french fries. But since I'm a pescatarian, I can only have so many items on the menu.

My first experience with Bistro Lunch Box was not a pleasant one. I had their Crab and White Cheddar fondue fries. Honestly, I was not a fan of it. I thought it was going to be crab meat on a bed of fries with a cheese sauce. Instead, it was a crab cake and white cheddar cheese on a bed of fries. The crab cake was good, but the cheese was not appetizing.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to give Bistro Lunch Box another try. This time, I had the Truck Salad. The salad consisted of greens, goat's milk cheese, pineapples, watermelon, and a honey vinaigrette. It was so bomb! I also got a crab cake on a bed of greens. But, the next time they come around, I will be sure to get another Truck Salad. It definitely put Bistro Lunch Box back in my good graces.

9. The Taco Bar

Taco Bar

I loveeeeeee the Taco Bar! And I'm pretty sure everyone else loves them too. Every time they're out in the parking lot, the line is entirely too long.

The Taco Bar also offers quesadillas and southwest burrito bowls in addition to the variety of tacos they have available. But each time I venture out to their truck, I only get the grilled shrimp southwest burrito bowl. It comes with jalapeno rice, cheese, pico, sour cream, and roasted salsa. I normally stay away from anything too spicy. So, I was hesitant about trying the rice. But after trying it, I can definitely say that it's a must have.

One day I'll actually get around to ordering a taco. My coworkers love them.

8. Baltimore Crab Cake Co.

Crab Cake Sandwich

Yesterday was the first time I was able to get a crab cake from Baltimore Crab Cake Company We used to have 2-3 trucks in the parking lot on food truck days. Now, we can barely get one. So, when I saw that we finally got a new truck, I couldn't wait to try it.

Interestingly enough, they only have three main menu items. A crab cake sandwich, cream of crab soup, and a smothered crab cake. They also offer bags of chips but I wish they offered fries instead.

I opted for the crab cake sandwich. Although, the smothered crab cake sounded really delicious. I have to say, their crab cake is definitely better than the one that Bistro Lunch Box offers.

7. Quinn's Ice

I loveeeee desserts. Mainly ice cream. Ice cream is a weakness of mine. And don’t let it be lactose free. I might just marry you for giving it to me, lol.

When Quinn’s Ice pulled into our parking lot the very first time, I was beyond excited. Their truck is pale pink and covered with so many cool stickers. They offer ice cream sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, soft serve, milkshakes, raw cookie dough cups, and soda floats.

In true Jonné fashion, I opted for a milkshake with oreo cookies, rainbow sprinkles, chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Cookies & Cream is my favorite ice cream flavor. But who can resist adding all of your favorite toppings inside of your milkshake?! That's the cool thing about Quinn’s Ice. They take all the toppings you want and blend it all together. It was so good!!

6. WOLO Food Truck

I’m not too sure what WOLO stands for. I’m convinced it means We Only Live Once. Or, it could also be We Only Love Once. But either way, their food is sinfully good.

The very first time I went to their truck, I got the Crab Mac & Cheese. It is sooooooo good! I highly recommend it. The second time I got a Crab Grilled Cheese with Bacon. (I tried the grilled cheese with bacon back in 2017 when I still ate bacon once in a blue moon. I've been pescatarian since January 2018). And then another time I tried the crab fries. Their crab fries are the kind of fries that I was expecting from Bistro Lunch Box. Which is why WOLO comes in at number 6. They're good, but definitely not the best I've ever had.

5. Jimmy's Famous Seafood

Jimmy’s Famous Seafood is another truck that ends up having a line wrapped around the parking lot. And rightfully so! Their restaurant has been featured on the Food Network and the Travel Channel. If Guy Fieri approves of the food, then you know it's good!

I opted for the crabby fries that day since it seemed like the lighter option. Let me tell you... The fries were better than WOLO and definitely better than Bistro Lunch Box. This is why Jimmy's Famous Seafood comes in at number 5.

4. Greek on the Street

Greek on the Street is easily in my top 5 since they have healthy options. They offer pita wraps, platters, Greek burrito bowls, and salads. Believe or not, the first time I ever had tzatziki was at this truck.

Since I’m obsessed with burrito bowls, I always get the grilled shrimp bowl. It comes with seasoned white rice, tomato, onion, and parsley mix, tzatziki, feta and pita slices. I always get heartburn eating it... But, I just can’t give it up!

3. The Green Bowl

Honestly, the Green Bowl is my favorite truck out of all the ones that serve just food. It’s the healthiest truck that I’ve come across in a long time. You can't beat Asian and Latin cuisine that’s green! What’s even better is that all dishes can be adapted to fit your vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free needs.

I always opt for the burrito bowl because hello, burrito bowl obsession. And honestly, you can never go wrong with a burrito bowl. It comes with rice, smokey beans, peppers and onions, pico de gallo, sour cream, and queso fresco. I always add spiced mushrooms and guacamole for a little extra.

2. T&J Waffles

T&J Waffles is exactly what you would expect it to be. A waffle truck!! They offer Sweet Liege Waffles, French Waffle Sandwiches, and Waffle Breakfast Sandwiches. My very first time I opted for a Sweet Liege Waffle with powdered sugar, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and whipped cream. Soooooooo good!

They also have a store front and offer catering for those who don’t want to chase the truck around the Baltimore area.

1. Mike's Gelato

Cookies & Cream Gelato

How fitting is it that the number one truck on my list is a dessert truck?! I absolutely loveeeee Mike’s Gelato. I would go outside and get a cup every time he pulled into the parking lot. I haven’t seen his truck lately. Which makes me sad. Nevertheless, his gelato is to die for.

The flavors that they come up with are incredible. I always opt for the Cookies & Cream. But one time, I lived life on the wild side and got a scoop of Cookies & Cream and a scoop of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. They even offer sorbet!

Mike’s Gelato is definitely the best truck to get a refreshing summer time treat.

I hope you enjoyed my list of Baltimore food truck faves! Let me know in the comments if you think of any food trucks that are better than the ones on my list 🙂
